Forbes Field

Forbes Field was home to the Pittsburgh Pirates for more than 60 years. It was built in 1909 and named for General John Forbes, a French and Indian War hero. The field was also home to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and in terms of baseball was one of the hardest fields in which to hit a home run. The last baseball game was played there in 1970 and it was demolished in 1971.
